Highly experienced operator appointed to run Flixborough North East depot
Our search for a manager to head up our Flixborough and North East operation is over. Associated British Ports and PD Ports alum, Mick Cruddas, has just been appointed as Forest Fuels’ North East operations manager, and will be responsible for looking after the management of operations, while working alongside customers and colleagues right around the UK.
Having spent nearly thirty years working for Associated British Ports, beginning his career straight out of school as a 16-year-old messenger, delivering post, he worked his way through the ranks, and eventually ended up looking after the movements of some of the biggest ships arriving from all around the world.
After conquering ABP, Mick moved on to PD Ports in his native Immingham. Taking on the role of operations manager in 2008, he oversaw the import and export of steel and petroleum coke for global conglomerates, TATA, latterly British Steel, and ConocoPhillips, but to name a few. However the draw of the increasingly prominent bioenergy sector drove him towards our growing company.
“I’m really happy to be joining Forest Fuels at such an exciting time in its evolution. The company is really going places and it’s great to be able to play a part in it at such a positive time,” said Mick.
Tony Vick, Forest Fuels senior logistics manager, added, “We're absolutely delighted to have attracted Mick to join our team. The depth of experience and knowledge he has are a real asset to us. Having spent the last 29 years in and around the industry, he has a super pedigree for managing the depot.”
On a personal note, Mick has been married to his wife, Jackie, for 34 years. A father to three grown-up daughters, and a grandfather to a 4 year old grandson and 2 year old granddaughter, he has plenty to keep him occupied when not at work.
